Southern Germany includes several cities to fulfill your tourism attention. Many of the big cities such as Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart; you can find yourself exploring for multiple days. But once you are ready to have a break from the larger, working cities and escape to a place that has charisma and character, look no further than Heidelberg.
This picturesque town will captivate your heart and have you feel as if you stepped into a fairy tale.
Be prepared, as you won't be alone when you enter into the city, around three million tourists make day trips every year. But don't let this number discourage you. The quaint shopping streets lined with cafes, restaurants and gelaterias will keep you busy and under the spell of the cities charm.
Once you've had the chance to walk down the main shopping street and enjoy your coffee at one of the quaint cafes, follow the streets leading you to Heidelberg Castle, which hangs over the city center skyline, on top of Mount Königstuhl. At the top you will have a breathtaking view of the city center and the Old Bridge from the 18th century that crosses over the river.

Within the castle walls (7 euro entry), is one of the largest wine barrels in the world made from 130 oak trees and holds over 200,000 liters...my kind of wine cellar!
To finish off your day, make the trek back down to the city center through the gothic streets to the market square, continuing on to Kornmarket, and finally to Karlsplatz. Somewhere in between pick any of the restaurants, preferably outside, for ideal people watching and take your time as you enjoy a good meal with either german beer or cocktails.

Within no time at all it will be time to return to your car for the journey back to your starting Deutschland point, a mere few hours away.
Don't forget to stop at the Lindt store on your way out to stock up on chocolate for your ride home, that always tastes better from it's own store than from the grocer.

Best Burger in Town:
I'm American. Therefore, I take my burgers seriously. If I am recommending a burger to you, don't take it lightly. Although Europe is getting better at finding the secret recipe to the American burger, it is still never a sure thing. However, Die Kuh Die Lacht (the cow laughing), was a very big hit with their avocado burger.
