It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness. Be the light.
Visiting the pools which sit in the footprints where the Twin Towers once stood, is a highlight of being in New York.
The waterfalls bring a sense of peace to a place where so much turmoil, death, and violence took place. When you're standing at the base, the constant rushing water rolling through the imprinted monument seems like the only fitting way to remember the lives of the 3,000 innocent people the world lost that day, 16 years ago.
We live in a world where we constantly are bombarded with news, updates, and information to make us feel like our world is in a dark place. Terrorist attacks, guns, racism, hatred. It seems as if every headline we click on is one of negativity and darkness driving mankind to its demise.
Which is why the 9/11 memorial was created so eloquently. The architect, Michael Arad, took an event of evil and constructed a monument full of beauty, life, and hope; rushing water, imprinted bronzed names, trees. "Reflecting Absence" resonates all of the right sounds and sights with a peaceful aura. It speaks volumes to it's visitors, representing the loss that occurred in combination with the regeneration that takes place after a devastating hit.

This is what the world needs. Yes, there are terrible events in the world. There always have been, there always will be. But its what we choose to do with what happens in our world on a daily basis.
Will we curse the darkness and let it become apart of us? Or will we light a candle and create budding life to affect those around us positively.
A day in American history we will #neverforget, 9/11.
Be a good human. Be the light.

xoxo
